“How To Use“ powdered clay masks – the path to clear, glowing skin

Koko & Clay face masks are formulated with powerful clay to provide your skin with important minerals and to cleanse it thoroughly. Clay comes in a variety of colours, including white, green, and pink clay. Different concentrations of minerals are mainly responsible for the coloration, which also means that certain clays are better suited for some skin types than others. We have summarized a step by step guide for you here. Let's go!

STEP 1: CLEANSE, CLEANSE, CLEANSE

Before applying your clay mask, make sure you cleanse your face thoroughly. This is the base of every great skincare routine. We recommend using a gentle cleanser to remove your skin from make-up, sun protection and environmental pollution, which attack your skin. If you desire you can also use(?) a facial steam bath, which open your pores so that dirt and excess sebum can come off more easily. Facial steam baths also prepare your skin for any following steps regardingyour routine! Finally, pad your skin dry. Before you apply a face mask, you should always clean your skin beforehand. This is the base of every great skincare routine. Use a gentle cleanser to clean your face from make-up, sunscreen and environmental pollutants that can attack your skin. If you want, you can do a facial steam bath, which will gently open your pores so dirt and excess sebum will come off more easily. And as the pores open, a steam bath effectively prepares the skin for further care steps! Lastly, patyour skin dry.

STEP 2: MIX IT UP, BABY!

You already prepared your skin, so now let’s dig into the more exciting part: mixing your clay mask.

Mix 1-2 teaspoons of your powder with a bit of water in a small bowl, until you a get a nice and creamy consistency. Yes, it really is that easy because you are already done.

Insider tip: For our extra fancy readers out there, we suggest replacing the water with green tea or rose water. On hot days, you can cool it down in the fridge beforehand. The special thing about the powdered face masks is that you can adapt them to the needs of your skin. Be it replacing the water with a different liquid like witch hazel or aloe vera or adding your favourite oil. Since our skin tends to become oily faster during hot summer days, which e.g. can promote the development of acne, we came up with a Koko & Clay summer recipe

Koko & Clay Summer DIY:

1-2 tsp. Purify Clay Mask
2-3 drops Balance Face Oil
1-2 tsp. Green Tea (organic)

Purify Clay Mask regulates, among other things, the oil production of your skin and also absorbs excess sebum. The Balance Face Oil helps to store moisturein your skin. Our surprise guest, green tea, enriched with vitamins E and B2, helps with regular use against signs of premature skin aging, for example triggered by the sun rays. Green tea has antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, and antimicrobial properties, making it a great acne fighter.

    STEP 3: APPLY

Apply the face mask to your face with your fingertips or with a brush and leave it on for 3-5 minutes. If you are prone to oily skin and acne, you can let the mask dry longer on your face. We recommend moistening the mask with water in between.

    STEP 4: RINSE OFF

Now it is time to wash off the mask. Since water is a precious resource, we shouldtake every opportunity to reduce our water consumption. For example, you could apply the mask before you shower and then wash it off in the shower. The hot steam ensures that your pores open up and your following skincare routine worksbetter. Alternatively, you could remove your mask with a dampened washcloth and then wash the washcloth in the washing machine with other towels. We recommend using our face masks 1-2 times a week. Afterwards you can apply our Balance Face Oil.
